Hi, I'm Mary and welcome to my blog.

I started this blog a couple years ago, back when I thought I wanted to be a child photographer. I'm sure you have noticed that trend... a friend of yours gets a nice camera and suddenly thinks she's a professional photographer. --Even though she has limited skills and absolutely no idea how to run a business? Yeah, I was one of those, too. Kinda embarrassing.

During those 5 minutes when I thought I could be a photographer, I decided I needed a blog to post the pictures for my two annual clients. And that is how this blog got started. Around the time we moved into Pemberley I realized photography wasn't really for me, or rather, I was not really cut out for photography. I started to post the projects we were working on at our house, and the blog sort of morphed into a DIY project blog.

I have five kids and live in Washington state. (Yes, we're Mormon. And you're thinking, "What?! A Mormon with a design blog?!" I know, so cliche.) I have no skills, no qualifications, no real degrees in anything you would care to hear about. I mostly just wing all my projects and learn as I go along. But, I love doing it. Home improvement gets me more excited than creme brulee. And I would cut a man for creme brulee.
