Crazy Ramblings while on vacation

I am sitting on the balcony of our hotel room in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  It is 80 degreees and sunny, with a lovely ocean breeze.  February, if you ask me, should always be  80 degrees and sunny.  It should be an inalienable right.  It should be in the Constitution.  Please, write your Congressperson!

Mr. Darcy has a work conference here.  Every February, we get to go to some lovely sunny spot  on someone else's dime.  Last year we went to Maui and took the kids along.  They still beg us to take them back.  My children and I were smitten by Hawaii.  It was, hands down, the best trip we have ever had as a family.

This year we left the kids at home.  For several reasons, money... fifteen hours of travel... money, school, but mostly money and the long travel times.  My youngest sister is watching the kids for us.  I tell you what, I am so lucky to have so many sisters that are willing to help out.  If you don't have 9 sisters, you should go get some more.

So, today is our last day here.  I haven't done a single thing besides eat, sleep, and read since we arrived.  And come up with crazy plans.  I do think developing crazy schemes is one of my greatest talents.  I bet Mr. Darcy would agree.

Crazy Scheme #1...  Run in a half marathon in September.  I haven't been able to run in years.  I did run for ten minutes a few weeks ago, but I was going like, zero miles an hour, I think.  Sloths were lapping me.  So, this is my "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger" scheme, but honestly... It will probably just kill me.

Crazy Scheme #2...  And this one is a doozy.  I am ridiculously excited about it.  I want to turn Pemberley into a Pride and Prejudice Bed and Breakfast someday.  Would that be AMAZING?!  I could decorate the bedrooms to fit the 1800s English countryside, have a closet full of Regency clothes available, have a ball in our living room each Friday.  Okay, so basically I want to rip off the book Austenland.  Don't be so judgey.  My house would be full of Austen nerds.  Is there anything better than that?!

Ooh!  Ooh!  And we could also rip off Downton Abbey and have servants quarters in the basement for people who want to go slumming.  I mean, could this idea be any more genius?  No.  Also, I think Mr. Darcy is concerned for my sanity.  You guys would all come, wouldn't you??!

The only thing that could possibly go wrong is that I can't cook and I'm also bad at cleaning, and probably am not very good at running a B&B, either.  And I also can't sew, nor can I play the pianoforte.  Also, also I doubt nerds of any kind are going to start flocking to the Yakima, Washington desert as a substitute for the English countryside.

REGARDLESS, best plan ever.  Blog readers get a 10% discount.  Tell your friends!!!

This same brain thing is really a trip sometimes. I also was contemplating the half marathon in September, because I came with this fab idea to do 36 things for my 36th year. Also, I want to add a guest apt over the garage and I told Mr. Man all about how we could rent it out to people who are looking for some peace and quiet or to deer enthusiast. He thought I was nuts.

80 degrees and an ocean view - full of envy right now! I'm looking at a stake dance and a lesson - Yeah, you have it good sister!

I like the idea of a Bed and Breakfast - you wouldn't have to do anything, that's what maids are for right???

while I comepletely support all your current schemes, I am disapointed that none of them involve visiting me in Texas. I will run that half marathon with you, it's been on my list for years and years--This is the year!

I will virtually train with you for a half marathon - because I'd be so helpful and all with my bitching and moaning through the entire thing like last summer!

But I will!

Yay Austenland! Love that book and must admitted I have dreamer of making it too. I would volunteer my services to help with the making of the regency dresses. I'm totally in!
