26 Acts of Kindness

May their memory be eternal
Last Friday's shooting has really hit me hard. I can't shake the sadness I feel over this happening here in our country. That it happened to our children. That we have allowed this to happen to our children.
I heard about the 26 Acts of Kindness Campaign and quickly realized that it is exactly the thing I need to get past this heartbreak. I need to try to put some good back into the world after so much of it was stolen from us. I need to try and make the world a better place. I have encouraged my kids to try to find 26 things they can do to help or lift or love someone before the end of the year.
As for myself, this year has taught me the value of having pictures of our loved ones. I have considered finding a way to offer my photography to families of terminally ill children, and still intend to pursue that at some point (when I am not homeschooling my kids). Photography is sort of a miraculous thing, being able to hold close the images of your loved one even after they are gone. I look at the sweet faces of the children who were killed last week and I just sob.
Anyway, this is what I am committing to do, but I need your help. I will take pictures for 26 children and provide their parents with a CD of 20-30 images that they may use however they like.
Here are my conditions:
1. I live in Yakima, WA and am homeschooling my kids, so you must come here (or nearby).
2. If possible, I would love to focus on children that are having serious health issues, although I don't personally know 26 children that fit those circumstances. Do you? If you do, and they live in or near Washington State, maybe you can forward this to them? I would appreciate it.
3. 26 photoshoots is a lot to take on, so this might take several months to complete. Please let me know if there are pressing time constraints.
If you are interested or know someone who might be interested, please email me at mckaylevi AT msn.com.
Thank you!

I love this! Such a beautiful idea!
fabulous idea!
I would love to hear more about how your photography plans go!
(I don't know anyone in your area, & I'm way too far away for anyone near me to participate, so I can't help you with that!)
i need to get family pictures with Brady before it's too late. Your post is motivating me to make it happen.
Paula, I wish I could do it for you!!
I have forwarded your blog post to my uncle who is a pastor near Yakima. He said he will put out the word.
Thank you, Sierra!
