2011 Year in Review
I didn't really think that I had accomplished that much this year, house-wise. I thought with being pregnant the first half of the year, and then holding a baby for the last half that not much actually got done. So, I looked through this year's posts and was surprised... I actually did something this year, yo. (Besides whining about being pregnant. I did a whole lot of that this year. And I'm so sorry.)
In January, I finally completed the girls shared bedroom:
Then I didn't do a single thing but complain until May, when the best project of the year finally debuted:
All together now, "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!".
Then in July, I decided it was time to tackle the deck and give Kitty a fenced in play area.
I know a couple of you were afraid that she would try to scale the baby gate or climb over the railing. Let me calm your fears... She doesn't want anything to do with her deck play area and refuses to go out there. Ha! Figures.
I also started rearranging my rooms in July, and transformed the rarely used dining room into a fabulous, long-awaited family room.
I love this room so much. It never looks this good and is usually an explosion of crumbs, toys, and laundry. Isn't that fantastic?!
Then I took the doors off my upper cabinets in the kitchen, and replaced the old pulls with some bin pulls.
And my kitchen love was renewed.
And the worst project of the year was also completed in July...
The terrible landing photo wall. Oh well. You can't win them all.
In August, my sister and I transformed my breakfast nook into a lovely, beachy eating area.
Which was a project I had been putting off for over a year.
Then in September, we needed to start shuffling rooms around to accommodate our sweet little Lydia. So, I completed Bennett's Star Wars room for the second time.
That reminds me... I still need to finish his closet/bench project.
Then my friend sewed me up a bunch of cafe curtains for the kitchen windows.
And they are delightful.
In October, Lydia's nursery was finally completed.
And guess who sleeps through the night now? What a honey! She slept from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. last night. So, having her sleep in our closet is working out just fine, I believe.
In November, I painted and switched the fabric on these pretty little chairs.
Which was a lot of fun. You should try it.
Then I painted some stripes and a chalkboard wall in Lizzy's room.
I still need to hang some art and complete a few things in there, too.
Then I finally turned my attention to our living room, and paid for my favorite human, Angel the painter, to knock out the painting for me. And just in time for Christmas.
It seems appropriate his name is Angel, doesn't it?
And finally, I hung some wallpaper samples in frames and made a lovely-if-not-slightly-crooked photo wall.
So, that is 2011 in review. I didn't do too bad, huh? We also tackled a few other projects like new rain gutters, water heater, and windows for Pemberley. So, we are slowly creeping along, fixing up this lovely house one project at a time.
Maybe I need to make a list of house goals for 2012 as well as my own personal resolutions? I will start brainstorming and share that with you next week.
What was your favorite project? I feel the need to take one more look at mine:
Love her love her love her.
And finally, today marks my 3 year anniversary as a blogger. Three years, and 679 posts later, I am more addicted than ever. Thanks for reading!
Happy New Year!

Looks like another great year Mary!!
You really did accomplish a LOT and that Liddy is my favorite too!
Happy New Year!
Love it!! Your blog was the first one I ever read and you were my inspiration to keep up with my own. Thank you for everything and I am excited to see your goals for next year!
I agree with you on Lydia being my favorite of your projects this year. I think the color of the walls in the living room is my second favorite.
I didn't accomplish near as much as you did this year. I hope to put myself in gear and get a lot done in 2012.
p.s. I'm glad to hear Kitty doesn't like the deck area. I was one who posted my fears of her climbing over the railing.
Yay! Everything is beautiful. :)
Your house and kids are beautiful!
That's some amount of work to get through, fair play to you, you deserve a pat on the back. I was thinking if you used picture frames of different shapes, sizes and colours it might work better. I've been looking into doing something similar myself when I can manage to motivate myself! :)
Well done Mary, you are certainly a super woman with all the projects, the adorable Lydia and your cute kids.
